Full Description

SZ 13069632. Traces of slight banks and ditches, possibly flattened boundary banks. <1-2>

A ditched and banked boundary and/or trackway is visible on current Lidar imagery <3>. The linear feature aligns northeast to southwest along the base of a shallow valley. The feature appears to survive as a series of ditched sections, some with possible sections of bank on one or both sides. An additional ditched and banked linear adjoins the main feature from upslope to the northeast; this is possibly a trackway of contemporary or later date, although it may all be part of one larger contemporary boundary feature, possibly between Iron Age and medieval in origin. At the southwest end the feature may become double ditched, the northernmost ditch hugging the curved base of slope to the north.

The features may be assocaited with a boundary feature of probable late prehistoric origin, possibly associated with further earthworks enclosing the rise of ground to the east (MWX1042). The features are visible along areas of clear ground between the trees on current Google Earth imagery <4> and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP.
