Full Description

'C' - Diameter 27 paces, height 6ft.

A gold torc of the Middle Bronze Age was found in 1852 by the Third Earl of Malmesbury, either in one of these three barrows or in one of the many "scattered over the top and sides of St. Catherine's Hill".

One of the other barrows contained "ashes in a vase of unbaked pottery". <1-5>

All three barrows destroyed by levelling around a Radar station. The site of 'B' is still indicated by a very low vague non-surveyable mound.
No further evidence obtained to connect the gold torc with any of these three barrows. <6>
