Summary

Bowl barrow left as an island in a gravel pit, but so eroded it is beyond measurement and recognition. The barrow is visible on current Lidar imagery and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP. The remains of a post medieval watchtower are recorded at this location on the OS 1st Edition map.

Full Description

A bowl barrow; diameter 15 paces, height 4 ft. In danger of being quarried away. (2)

The site of this barrow has been left as an island in a gravel pit but erosion has subsequently mutilated it beyond measurement or recognition. (3)

Vestigial remains only. Published 1/2500 revised. (4)

A large quantity of sand was banked against and over this barrow and trees were planted to cut off access as part of emergency earthmoving in January 1976. (5)

The feature is visible as an earthwork on current Lidar imagery and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP (6).

The remains of a post medieval watchtower are recorded at this location on the OS 1st Edition map (7).
