Summary

Two Bronze age ring ditches were found during excavations at Bargates carried out by Jarvis. A scatter of pottery indicated destroyed cremation burials.

Full Description

Excavations carried out for the DOE and Christchurch Borough Council by Jarvis revealed two ring ditches about 22m in diameter and a scatter of pottery that indicated cremation burials destroyed by ploughing. The ring ditches were probably round barrows and probably survived into the late medieval period (1)
