Find Spot record MDO8653 - Bronze Age pottery from Furzy (Latch Farm), Christchurch

A large number of finds of prehistoric date have been recovered Furzy (Latch Farm) as a result of gravel extraction, the majority of which are now in the Red House Museum, Christchurch. These finds include three Late Bronze Age bucket urns. One other Late Bronze Age urn is listed, but it is unclear if it is included within this total of three vessels.

(Area SZ 153945) Furzy (Latch Farm). The undermentioned finds have been made in the area. Nearly all in the Druitt Collection Christchurch:

60 Palaeoliths; 4 leaf arrowheads; 1 flint celt; 6 flint picks; 3 Microliths; 16 Transverse arrowheads; 10 barbed and tanged arrowheads; 3 Triangular arrowheads; 7 plano-convex-knives; over 600 scrapers 40 cores etc, 2 EBA Beakers (see SZ 19 SE 3 & 4) possibly the same Beakers; Rusticated and grooved ware; LBA urn.

This gravel pit is now dis-used and overgrown.
