Bronze Age ditched bowl barrow on Kinson Heath. It was excavated in 1948, in advance of development. The barrow mound was about 46 feet in diameter and had been damaged by the digging of a pit in the centre, possibly by the Home Guard in WW2. No trace of a central burial was found. The mound was constructed of layers of sand and gravel sealing an old ground surface. A group of eleven secondary urned cremation burials were found in the south east quadrant of the barrow and three small pits containing burnt material, but only one with cremated human bone. The urns were of Deverel Rimbury type. <4>
