Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow, surviving as an earthwork and located on the south side of Wick Lane. When visited by an Ordnance Survey field investigator in 1959, it could be seen as an elongated mound 27 metres north-south by 17 metres east-west, with a maximum height of 2.6 metres. It was described as slightly mutilated and had been planted with fir trees. There was no visible sign of a surrounding ditch, nor any trace of an excavation.

Full Description

A half-mile WSW of Christchurch Priory, on the south side of Wick Lane stands one of the largest surviving barrows in the district. Formerly it was known as Green Low. Bowl barrow. Diameter 30 paces by 10ft. (b). <2>

An elongated mound; 27 metres N-S, and 117.0 metres in an E-W direction. It has been slightly mutilated, and planted with fir trees. The barrow has a maximum central height of 2.6 metres. There is no visible surrounding ditch, or sign of excavation. <3>
