Full Description

A densely overgrown mound standing on the northern slope of a natural hillock; the mound measures approx. 15.0m in diameter and has a max height of 0.8 m. There are no signs of mutilation of excavation but it has been slightly pitted by rabbits; no sign or berm or ditch. Possible bowl barrow. <2>

Bowl barrow; published NSL 1:1250 survey correct. <3>

A low elongated mound is visible at this location on current Lidar imagery <4> and this was digitally plotted during the Dorset NMP. The mound occupies the headland of a low west-facing spur of ground and measures about 51m by 20m at its widest point. There is a possible low satellite mound to the southeast, measuring around 14m by 10m. The detail on Lidar imagery is not sufficient to confidently identify a barrow or other prehistoric earthwork, although it is possible. Alternatively the mound may be of natural origin.
