Summary

A bowl barrow situated on North Hill, a prominent plateau. Bronze Age bowl barrow, 30m across, visible as low earthworks on lidar. The barrow has a mound composed of earth and limestone blocks. Surrounding the mound is an infilled quarry ditch, surviving as a buried feature 2 metres wide.

Full Description

SY 96637793. An earthen mound, most probably a round barrow, lies in a level arable field on the fringe of an area of strip lynchets (SY 97 NE 53). It has been spread by regular ploughing and now measures approximately 24.0m by 20.0m and 1.2m high. There is no evidence of a ditch, nor of disturbance other than ploughing. <1>

Site of a bowl barrow, 30m across, is visible as earthworks on lidar <2-3> and digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
