Summary

A large barrow on Wool Heath described by the antiquarian John Hutchins, and possibly also depicted on early Ordnance Survey drawings. More recent field investigators have not been able to locate this monument, which is within the area of Bovington Camp.

Full Description

"There is a very large barrow in Wool Heath which goes by the name of Coles Barrow. It does not appear to have ever been opened". <1>

Coles Barrow, on Wool Heath has not been located. (Wool Heath centred SY 8389). <2-3>

No further information was obtained upon "Coles Barrow" save that an unnamed barrow on Wool heath is depicted on (a). It was situated at approximately SY 835892, an area now covered by Bovington Camp. <4>
