Full Description

SY 849866. Settlement remains, formerly part of Wool village, occur immediately east of the present village where an area of two acres with closes lies on either side of a hollow-way running in from the west. This road was already blocked by a cottage in 1770. <1>

Settlement remains as described in Authy 1. <2>

Only part of the settlement is presently surveyable since the field at SY 84998648 in under crop. The majority of the remains, centred at SY 84838652, are in poor condition. This area has been ploughed and some hollow ways infilled. The major hollow-way is clearly visible though no complete closes remain, an estimation of their size would be some 50 by 30 metres. Their banks now average 7 metres wide and 0.4 metres high. There are no identifiable house sites and no surface finds are reported. Surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <3>
