Summary

A Late Bronze Age sword and a hoard of broken bronze pieces were found in 1903 at Sleight Farm, though the exact findspot is unclear. All but the tip of the sword was destroyed in a fire at Lulworth Castle in 1929.

Full Description

A bronze carp's tongue sword, length 24 1/2 ins., found at Sleight Farm with a hoard in 1903, is now in the Dorchester Museum. When found the sword was complete, but only 5 inches of the point remain, the rest being destroyed in the Lulworth Castle fire of 1929. Other bronze objects found with the sword consisted of old and broken implements, including parts of a flesh-hook. Both founders hoard and the sword are Late Bronze Age. (Randalls Farm at SY 80558190 on OS 6" 1903 is shown as Sleight Bldgs on 1"6th Ed). <1-2>

No information leading to a nearer location of the find-spot was obtainable during the field investigation of the area. "Sleight Farm is that marked as Randalls Farm on OS 6" 1903". <4>
