Full Description
A) & B). Bowl barrows. <2>
'B'. A mound merging into a low knoll, which causes the diameter of the barrow to have an approximate measure of 15.0 metres, and approximate height of 1.0 metres. There is no trace of a berm or ditch, but a hollow in the top is 3.5 metres diameter and 0.7 metres deep.
No surface finds were made at these barrows, both of which are of bowl type. <3>
'B' - (39) SY 80368600. Bowl barrow, 42ft diameter and 2 1/2ft. High with disturbed centre. <5>
SY 800865. Round barrows on Drove Hill. Scheduled. <6>
B: A bowl barrow 15.0 metres in diameter and 1.0 metres high, situated in a pasture field and grass covered, except for a bush covered hollow in the top. Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <7>
This area was included in the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The site of the mound was not identified on available aerial photographs although a small hollow, 3m across, was digitally plotted in this location <9>.

‘Most of the seventeen barrows lie on heathland N. of the village, five forming the Black Knoll Group (AC). Another barrow possibly existed at 81938295 (O.S. 1811). Some on Winfrith Down, perhaps including (32), were excavated by Durden but cannot now be identified (Durden Catalogue, 9, no. 110; 21, nos. 50-54). … (39) Bowl (SY 88 NW; 80368600) on slight knoll. Diam. 42 ft., ht. 2½ ft. Disturbed in centre.'
