Full Description
A sherd of Iron Age A pottery was recovered from the east slope of Scratchy Bottom, Chaldon Herring. The sherd was a course, flint tempered sandy ware within an extensive area of well-preserved Celtic Fields. (1)

‘(b) A sherd of coarse, flint-gritted sandy ware (D.C.M. 1952.3) was found on the E. slope of Scratchy Bottom, Chaldon Herring, at about nat. grid. Ref. SY(30/803803, within an extensive area of well preserved Celtic Fields (some of which have eroded into the sea) centred on the Warren. The sherd is small and abraded, but is perhaps Iron Age A.’
