Summary

One of two barrows marked on the OS 1st Edition Map. The barrow is visible as a slight earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1970.

Full Description

'A' and 'B' Bowl barrows, the eastern half of 'A' being ploughed. 'A' - A grass covered mound, crossed by a N-S hedge, and completely ploughed out on the east side of the hedge. N-S. mound measures 19.0., and E-W 9.0m. Its height is 0.8m. There is no sign of a berm or a ditch. Slightly mutilated by a N-S cart track. No surface finds were made in the vicinity of this bowl barrow. <3>

'A' (50) - SY 83338307. Bowl (?) barrow, about 40ft. Diameter and 1 1/2ft. High. Partly in hedgerow on east and ploughed. <4>

'A' at SY 83328306 now measures 13.4m. In diameter and 0.3m. High. Revised at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>

Barrow 'B' at SY 83318299 has now been ploughed out. <6>

One of two barrows marked on the OS 1st Edition Map. The barrow is visible as a slight earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1970 <7-8>. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The field has been plough-levelled and nothing is visible on the latest Google Earth imagery .
