Full Description
A child's stone coffin was found c. 1985 incorporated into a wall between nos. 18 and 20 Church Street, Wareham, during alterations to the Wareham Bear Shop. The coffin was carved with a key-hole type recess for the head and was of Purbeck stone and 1.2m long. It was deposited with the Lady St Mary Church. Based on current dating such coffins are thought to be late medieval to 16th century in date. (1)
