Full Description
Third and fourth century Roman pottery was found by Mr L Cooper at 22 Roper's Lane during the construction of a soakaway. The pottery recovered weighed 2kg and included much Black Burnished Ware (BB1), including 8 flanged bowl rims, 3 dishes with plain rims, 12 jar rims, six sherds with obtuse lattice decoration, a 1st/2nd century flagon and 42 body sherds. There were 20 sherds in oxidised buff, pink fabrics and a mortaria sherd with a horizontal flange and red slip. The pottery is now in Poole Museum. (1)
