Full Description
Occupation debris, some probably from salt-boiling, comes from adjoining sites below Tyneham Cap, and confirms Dr Frends note of Iron Age C and Romano-British pottery at SY 89397961. Scraps of burnt shale and flint-gritted ware resembling salting briquetage were found at SY 89347956 in 1958, and Romano- British sherds and one probably of Iron Age A came from the cliff edge at SY 89217941. ‘Lies in a field regularly ploughed. Further to the S. pottery has been found eroding from the cliffs. 7/7/D.’

‘(iii) Brandy Bay (SY 89217941); a few sherds, one probably of Iron Age A and the remainder Iron Age C or Romano-British, from the cliff edge in rough pasture about 22 yds. S.W. of site (ii). This is presumably equivalent to an “Early E.I.A.” site makred by W. H. C. Frend (but about 80 yds. S.E.) on O.S. 6-in. map. Dorset LV S.E. in D.C.M., and otherwise unrecorded.’
