Full Description
Surveyed at SY 87728272 is a bowl barrow with a diameter of 16.0m. and a height of 0.9m. It is surrounded by a ditch 3.0m. wide and 0.4m. deep. The barrow is heather-covered and slightly pitted by shell fire but with no traces of excavation. <1>
SY 87718272. Ditched bowl barrow, 49ft. diameter and 2 1/2ft. high with shallow ditch 8ft. wide. <3>
SY 87718271. Bowl barrow, diameter 15.0m. and height 0.8m. There are unsurveyable traces of a ditch. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on MS.D. <4>
Bowl barrow recorded as having been destroyed by track construction in the tank ranges by the OS Field Reviser. <6>
Site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 <8>. The barrow mound is 17m across and still visible as earthworks on the most recent Google Earth imagery. The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck NMP.
