A Bronze Age bowl barrow forming part of the Thorn Barrow Group. The barrow mound was identified on aerial photographs taken in 1946.

Full Description

'E'-(20)-SY87798191. Bowl Barrow, 74ft diameter and about 5 1/2ft high on slight rise. <2>

SY878819. Thorn Barrow, round barrow (See SY 88 SE 18) and three adjacent round barrows (probably 'B','C' and 'E' above). Scheduled. <3>

'E'. SY 87788191. Bowl barrow, diameter 27.0m., so severely damaged by military operations that only a rim 1.7m. high remains, and the north quadrant of this destroyed by a track. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow forming part of the Thorn Barrow Group. The barrow mound, 26m across, was identified on aerial photographs taken in 1946 <6> and was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck mapping project. The somewhat multilated barrow is still visible as an earthwork on the 2005 Dorset vertical photographs <7>.
