Full Description

'a' A bowl barrow; diameter 25 paces, height 5 1/2 ft. <2>

'a' This barrow which is situated at SY 82819111 has a diameter of 21.0m and a height of 1.5m. It is flat-topped and has no ditch nor does it bear any traces of mutilations A heather covered bowl barrow. <3>

Tumulus (a) now falls within an area taken over by M.E.X.E., the destruction of the mound is possible. <4>

'A'- (14) - SY 82829112 Bowl barrow, about 50ft diameter and 6ft high. <5>

'A' SY 82819112. 'B' SY 82909104. Two barrows as described by authority 3. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <6>

Two bowl barrows on Turner's Puddle Heath. The barrow situated to the northwest (Barrow A) has a diameter of 22 metres and survives to a height of 2 metres. Althought the southeast barrow (Barrow B) has been truncated by a road, it measures 22 metres east-west, 12.5 metres north-south, and is 1.5 metres high. The flag pole has been removed. <7>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery on Tonerspuddle Heath <8>. The barrow is sub-circular and measures approximately 23 m in diameter. It is scheduled together with a second barrow located approximately 95 m to the south east(see linked record). This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.

'Six (14–19) of the eleven barrows are on rises in the heath S. of the village. Four of the others, with two in Bere Regis, form a small group on Black Hill, N.E. of the village. A mound, 60 ft. across, at 83919244 is probably natural.
The following three barrows (SY 89 SW) are on a broad W.-E. ridge.
