Summary

A bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was reported as being around 25 feet in diameter with a mound about one foot high, and surrounded by a ditch.

Full Description

Two ditched bowl barrows at ... SY 90808326 (B). … (B) is situated 46 yards east of (A). It is 25 feet in diameter by 1 foot high, with a ditch 6 feet wide and up to 1 foot deep. <3>

Two adjcent heather covered barrows on the crest of a ridge on Grange Heath about 170ft above OD, discovered by Brown <1>. Both show signs of a ditch and of disturbance. SY 90758329. About 3ft high and 40ft diameter. SY 90798330. About 1ft high and 16ft diameter. Listed by Grinsell, numbers Steeple 3c and 3d <2> . These two mutilated round barrows lie on high ground at the edge of the army firing range. Covered by dense, mature gorse bushes and surrounded by deep rutted vehicle tracks neither barrow is at present accessible for inspection or survey. <5>

'(23) Ditched bowl (SY 98 SW; 90808326) in similar position 46 yds. E. of (22). Diam. 25 ft., ht. 1 ft., with ditch 6 ft. wide and up to 1 ft. deep.'

Situated on a heathland ridge, bracken, gorse and heather covered. Faint traces of ditch on the W. side. Barrow visible as a faint rise. 7/7/C
