Beacon Hill is suggested to be the site of a beacon shown on Saxton's map of Dorsetshire of 1575.

Full Description

A "tumulus"-shaped hill at Lytchett Minster "commands a very extensive prospect of Poole Bay" and was formerly a beacon. <2>

Lytchett Beacon hill is now tree-covered and the summit is disturbed by several pits, probably old sand or gravel pits. No trace of the beacon was found. <3>

Listed by H T White as being the site of a beacon, number 3. <4>
