Full Description
(Centred SZ 003786) Leeson House (Vase containing Roman Coins found AD 1842). <1>
No further information except that the coins were found when the foundations of the present house were built at SZ 00467868. <2>
Roman coin hoard contained in a vessel (now untraced) came from an extension to Leeson House circa 1842. <3>
A vessel containing a Roman coin hoard was found in about 1842 when an extension to Leeson House was built. No further details of the hoard and the finds are untraced. <3-5>
A hoard of third century Roman brass coins found contained within a full small earthen-ware pot about the year 1842 on digging the foundations of the new dining room at Leeson House, then the property of J.B. Garland.

'Two Roman coin hoards are untraced. One came from an extension c. 1842 to Leeson House (004786); the other, including a coin of Constantine, was ploughed up at 'Langton' in 1817 (Hutchins I (1861), 560; D.C.M. Parishes Index).'
