Romano-British occupation site discovered by P.A. Brown circa 1975, west of Spyway Barn and south of Priest’s Way on the limestone ridge near Dancing Ledge. A small area of black soil was noticed astride a trackway leading south-east to a quarry, and a flint scrapper and a quantity of pottery was recovered, including a samian sherd and a black burnished ware of relatively early Roman date (Farrar 1975, 67). The site was visited 15/9/1994 and several body sherds of Early Iron Age pottery and a flint core were found around the quarry edge at SY99517751. A small fragment of Samian pottery was also found here. Pottery has been found 350m to the south 112,209 and flint tools 112,346 and a field system 112,345 have been identified in the field to the west.
