Summary

A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Stokeford Heath taken in 1945. Another round barrow (MDO7697) is located approximately 100m to the north-west of this site and may have been contemporary with it. This feature is not visible on recent aerial imagery, this area now being heavily overgrown with scrub.

Full Description

(SY 87308816) This is not a barrow but a hut circle, 13 yds across with a well defined bank 18 ins high. The entrance faces south east. <2>

SY 87308816. Barrow(?), completely destroyed. Possibly only a tree-clump enclosure.<3-4>

A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Stokeford Heath taken in 1945 <5>. It comprises of a circular mound, approximately 5.5m in diameter. Another round barrow (MDO7697) is located approximatly 100m to the north-west of this site and may have been contemporary with it. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is not visible on the most recent aerial imagery available to the project, this area now being heavily overgrown with scrub.
