Summary

A series of medieval lynchets were noted by field investigators in 1952 to the south of the medieval village of Afflington. By 1986, only one remained. Fragments of lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 and 1946.

Full Description

(Area centred SY 971798) Medieval Lynchets. <1>

There is now one lynchet, about 170m long. At its E end it is 2m high and continues thus for 70m. Thereafter it becomes progressively more ploughed down and is barely perceptible at its western end. <2>

Fragments of lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945/6 <3-4>.
