The broken lower stone of a rotary quern found in a drystone wall in 1971. It is thought probably to have come from the nearby Kingston Down settlement

Full Description

Almost half of the lower part of an Iron Age rotary quern probably of Curwen's early 'Wessex' class dating from the 1st century BC was found by J Beavis in 1971 amongst the upper stones of a field wall on Kingston Down at SY 957783. This stray find probably came from the Kingston Down settlement (see SY 97
NE 63). It is made from Ferruginous Sandstone. Now in Dorset County Museum. <1>
