A flint pick or hoe, 5ins long with one end broken found in newly ploughed land at SY 95588378, west of the possible barrows (See SY 98 SE 47) on New Mills Heath. <1>

In 1964 a local archaeologist Mr P.A. Brown (1964 p117) found a flint pick or hoe of Mesolithic date when New Mills Heath was newly ploughed. It was in his private collection in Corfe Castle village but since his death in 1987 it has been stored in Dorchester Museum. The pick measures 13cm long and has one end broken off.
