‘Bowl barrow Diam. 10.7m and Ht0.6m. Situated on managed grassland which is permanent pasture and rarely ploughed. A faint rise with animal scrapes visible on the surface. Hollow immediately E. of the mound may be the original quarry pit. There is a N-S fence constructed immediatley W.of the monument. See RAF/VAP/1821: 2403 and OS SY98SE5. 1/3/C.’

A bowl barrow, one of a group of seventeen round barrows and one long barrow. This is the second most easterly of the group. Visible as a low rise 11m dia. and 0.6m high. It has no visible ditch but a quarry to the east of it 4m dia. and 0.3m deep may have been the source for the mound material. The site lies on the crest of the chalk ridge east of 112,161 and west of 112,163. Nine mounds are recorded on Woodward's map (1775) and a cremation burial is recorded from one of the barrows in this group (Miles 1826). This land has been downland since at least 1585 (Treswell) and appears never to have been ploughed.
