Full Description
<1> Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society, 1990, Proceedings of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society for 1989, 105 (Serial). SDO89.
‘Six sherds of thick (13-14mm) coarse pottery were found by a holiday-maker in a ploughed field at East Creech Farm (SY 9314 8280) in September 1986. The pottery was examined by Dr. A. B. Woodward of Birmingham University, who identified it as Bronze Age. This, in conjunction with soil-marks visible at the site, suggests that it is the location of a barrow.’
<2> DCC SMR, to 2003, Former DCC SMR Card Index, Typewritten notes (Index). SWX8285.
'Six sherds of thick (13-14mm) coarse pottery, probably Bronze Age, found in ploughed field on East Creech Farm (Mr Best), Wareham by … September 1986. Probable barrow. Information via City Museum and Art Gallery, Drake Circus, Plymouth (pottery handed to Assistant Keeper of Archaeology while visiting Maiden Castle).'
'May 1988. Pottery examined by Dr A B Woodward of Birmingham University, and identfied as Bronze Age. She also pointed out that the clean, unabraded edges of the sherds indicate that the pot had only very recently been disturbed and could not have been moved far by the action of ploughing. This, in conjunction with soil-marks visible at the stie, suggests that it is very probably the location of a barrow.'
