Find Spot record MDO7313 - Roman finds from a bowl barrow on Knowle Hill, Church Knowle

A number of Roman finds, including fragments of coarse Iron Age and Romano-British wares and part of shale bracelet were found in the filling of the ditch of a Bronze Age barrow.

‘The upper filling of the ditch on the east side produced a few fragments of bead-rim and other coarse Iron Age or Romano-British wares, a worn fragment of Samian, and part of a shale bracelet.’

‘Romano-British sherds and a piece of shale armlet were found in the ditch of a Bronze Age barrow (see Round Barrows, Church Knowle (41)) on the E. part of Knowle Hill (Dorset Procs. LXXVI (1954), 53, 55).’
