Full Description

SY 93597883. Church Knowle 10. Bowl barrow 19? Paces diameter, 2ft high west of Polar Wood. Measured by A Herdan. <1>

Two mounds; possibly barrows, above the 600ft contour and about 400m. north north east of the known barrow on Swyre Head (see SY 97 NW 9), were noted by P. A. Brown. The more northerly mound lies in a field west of Polar Wood, at SY 93577884; the other, about 70m south, at SY 93567876, is crossed by the field wall and track running south west from the wood. <2>

A: SY93557885. A much ploughed barrow, reduced to a circular mound of earth and limestone rubble, 12m in diameter and 0.3m high. Surveyed at 1:2500 on OS plan. <6>

'Visible as a low rise, crossed by a dry stone wall. S.E. of the boundary the barrow was in permanent pasture, grazed by sheep. N.W. of the boundary the mound has been reduced by ploughing, in a regularly cultivated field. 7/7/C.'
