Summary

This limekiln is shown as ‘Old limekiln’ on th 1900 Ordnance Survey map and ‘pit’ on the 1967 O/S map. The kiln is built entirely into a hillside or bank, the pot is surrounded with bedrock or rubble. Only the front wall and draw arch is is built of masonary. It was visited in 1992-3 by Peter Stanier and found to be in fair condition with some 60-70% still surviving.
