A circular mound, approximately 12.2m in diameter, is visible at this location as an earthwork on aerial photographs <5>. It is considered likely to be the remains of a late prehistoric round barrow. An excavation trench which cuts northeast-southwest across the centre of the mound appears to have become part of a trackway which now runs through this area <6>. It is one of two potential barrows located in this vicinity (MDO7243-44). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as an earthwork on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project.
