Summary

An oval mound is visible at this location as a cropmark on aerial photographs, located to the south-east of Down Barn. It is considered likely to be the remains of a late prehistoric round barrow.

Full Description

A much damaged bowl barrow, 80ft diameter by 2.5ft high on north slope below 500ft contour. <1> <3>

SY 77878172. diameter 15.0m approximately, height 0.3m: no visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

An oval mound, approximately 11.5m x 8.8m, is visible at this location as a cropmark on aerial photographs <5>, located to the south-east of Down Barn. It is considered likely to be the remains of a late prehistoric round barrow. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
