Summary

A circular mound is visible at this location as an earthwork on aerial photographs. It is considered likely to be the remains of a late prehistoric round barrow. It is one of three potential barrows located in this vicinity (MDO7239-41).

Full Description

Three round barrows south-east of Hill Barn. <1>

'B' - SY 77578119. Bowl barrow, 54ft diameter by 2.25ft high. <3>

'B' - SY 77578119. Barrow, in arable diameter 18.0m, approximately, height 0.7m, with no visible ditch. Both 'B' and 'C' have been ploughed over. 'B' and 'C' Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

A circular mound, approximatley 18m in diameter, is visible at this location as an earthwork on aerial photographs <5>. It is considered likely to be the remains of a late prehistoric round barrow. It is one of three potential barrows located in this vicinity (MDO7239-41). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as a faint cropmark on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project.
