A barrow shown in this general vicinity on an estate map of 1777. No trace of the barrow can be seen, either as an earthwork or on aerial photographs.

Full Description

Approx. SY 852966. Muddox Barrow (site of) Destroyed. Not shown on OS 1" 1st Ed. A flat bronze axe was found near this barrow. (see SY 89 NE 10). <2>

Perambulation of the area revealed no trace of a barrow and local enquiries produced negative information. <3>

Muddox barrow (about SY 852966), now destroyed, is shown on I. Taylor's estate map of 1777. <4>

There is no indication of a barrow in the vicinity of SY 852966 and nothing is visible on air photographs. <5>
