Monument record MDO7141 - Hawke or Hawks Barrow, Bere Regis

Please read our .

Summary

A bowl barrow on a spur. In 1970 this monument was recorded as being around 74 feet in diameter with a mound about 7 feet high. The centre of the mound is disturbed, suggesting that it has been the object of antiquarian investigation, and an urn in the Dorset County Museum is said to have come from this barrow. The barrow is visible as an earthwork mound on aerial photographs taken in 1945 and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM.
