Full Description

A large bowl barrow, no details given. <2>

This barrow has a diameter of 17.0 metres and a height of 1.5 metres with no trace of a surrounding ditch. It has been much mutilated by the crossing of tanks in a north-south direction. A heather covered bowl barrow. <3>

SY 8432 9102. Bowl barrow, 58ft diameter and 51/2ft high, damaged by tanks, situated on Gallows Hill. <4>

SY 8432 9102: No change. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery <7> on Gallows Hill, Bere Regis. The barrow is sub-circular in shape and measures 16 m in diameter. This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
