Summary

An oval mound 15 by 20 metres across and around half a metre high, situated near the bottom of a south-facing slope. This feature may be a barrow, though the shape and location are not typical of a barrow, and it may be a natural feature.

Full Description

Heather covered oval mound, 15 X 20 metres, 0.5 metres high. Lies near the bottom of a south facing slope, the shape and location are not typical of a barrow and it may be a natural feature.

A small round mound is visible on Geomatics lidar in this vicinity (2). It is of uncertain origin and was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.

‘Mound 15x20m diam. 0.5m high. Situated on heathland this heather covered mound is crossed on its northern perimeter by an E-W footpath. Lying near the bottom of a south facing slope this oval low rise has the appearance and location not typical of a barrow and may be a natural feature. Conserved heathland part of Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve. On Bagshot Beds. Visible on AP/RAF//1946//CPE/UK 1821, 4409. 7/7/B.’
