Summary

A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who recorded that almost all (80-90%) of the kiln survived in fair condition. He described the draw arch as being round and built of brick. The site was identified on aerial photographs during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.

Full Description

A lime kiln recorded as ‘old limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-2) Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who recorded that almost all (80-90%) of the kiln survived in fair condition. He described the draw arch as being round and built of brick [1]. The site was identified on aerial photographs during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project [2].
