Full Description

Slight evidence for medieval activity was found during excavations to the rear of the site of Rogers' Almshouses, West Street, Poole in 1974. This included a small number of scattered post holes and an irregular pit, together with several spreads of residual medieval pottery. This area of Poole is on the very edge of the medieval settlement area and it is unlikely to have been densely occupied. <1>

SZ 00909064: Excavations at the rear of Roger's Almhouses (SW 09 SW 16) in 1974 have produced evidence of occupation dating from the 13th century. Numerous post-holes were identified, but the most intensive occupation dated from the 17th century onwards with at least two stone and brick-built houses represented. <2>
