Summary

Bowl barrow, about 11.5m in diameter and up to 1.3m high, with traces of a surrounding quarry ditch. A large depression in the centre of the mound suggests it has been excavated in the past. The barrow is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted from these sources by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

An irregular and spread bowl barrow, heather and tree covered, with vague unsurveyable traces of a ditch on the west side. The mound has a diameter of 12.0m., it is 1.0m. high on the east, and 0.3m. on the west. The top has been generally mutilated by digging. <2>

Bowl barrow situated in a dominant position at the east end of a prominent spur. It remains as described by auth. 6. <7>

A large depression in the centre of the mound, 2 metres in diameter and 1 metre deep, suggests that it has been excavated in the past. (2)

The barrow is visible on 1940s aerial photographs <9> and was digitally plotted from these sources by the Dorset Stour NMP project. The feature is indistinct but appears to comprise a low 10m in diameter mound with a shallow elongated depression set into the top of the mound on its west side. The feature is under scrub on current Google Earth imagery and not visible.
