Summary

Ditched bowl barrow now in Knighton Heath Golf Course. It was formerly recorded as being 11 metres diameter and 0.7 metres high. The barrow has now been levelled to form part of the green at the ninth hole of the golf course.

Full Description

Diameter 35 ft. and height 3ft. Ditch slightly indicated. Top disturbed but unopened. <2>

Only the NE half of this barrow survives and this has a maximum diameter of 11.0m. And a height of 0.7m. Around this part
of the mound there is a ditch 1.3m. Wide and 0.1m. Deep. The SW half of the barrow has been levelled and forms part of the green at the 9th hole of a golf course. The remains are those of a bowl barrow, heather covered. <3>

SZ 04369618. Ditched bowl barrow, 32 feet in diameter, 3 1/2 feet high with a ditch 6 feet wide. Slight hollow in
centre; south side destroyed by a golf tee. <5>

Since 1955 this barrow has been further levelled to correspond with the height of the golf green. It is now virtually
destroyed but can be recognised by vestiges of a ditch around the NE quadrant. OS 1:2500 survey (1959) revised. <6>

'(377) Ditched bowl (SZ 09 NW; 04369618) above a small stream on slight ridge between 100 ft. and 150 ft. above O.D. Diam. 32 ft., ht. 3 1/2 ft., with ditch 6 ft. wide. Slight hollow in centre; S.h side destroyed by a golf tee.'
