Summary

A bowl barrow with a mound about 14metres in diameter and one metre high. The barrow has been damaged and partly dug away particularly on the northern side. The quarry ditch surrounding the mound from which material to construct the mound was derived is no longer visible but will survive as a buried feature about 2 metres wide.

Full Description

SZ 07009258. Fern Barrow (site of), a bowl barrow measured by W G Wallace in 1919 when the dimensions were 14 paces diameter and 5 ft high. Opened in 1930 and a turf shelter built against the north side. <2>

Fern Barrow, bowl (?), originally about 42 ft diameter and about 4 1/2 ft, but much damaged. <3>
