Full Description

Two small jaw, crosshatched, black, one with a slight rim, bought by Dorset County Museum : also RB pottery, all from 98-117) found just before 1914 by Geoffrey Symes at the end of the lawn at Monksdene, Dorchester Rd. <1>

(SY 68028023) Monksdene is 70.0 metres due south of MS Weymouth 1. The present occupiers could not be contacted, but from local enquiries it was ascertained that it was previously the residence of Mr Symes. There is a small lawn at the back and at the front of the house. No further information was obtained upon the finds. <2>

‘RB pottery and a coin have been found in Dorchester Road, Melcombe Regis. Found in the garden of a house called Monksdene, by a Mr Symes.’
