Full Description
A Roman burial place was cut through at Rodwell during the construction of the Weymouth and Portland railway. Two vessels which are now in the B.M. were found in a railway cutting at Clearmount.....(about 675779), while Locks guide states that during the excavation for Rodwell station (674783) pieces of Roman pottery and some Roman coins were unearthed as well as the bones of a man, horse and dog. The vessels were not closely dated. <3>
