Full Description
Bronze Age barrow, visible as a low earthworks on aerial photographs. One of a group of barrows at East Hill. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project {1-2}.

'(R.14) EAST HILL GROUP (SY 78 SW). Fourteen, possibly sixteen, barrows in two compact clusters, the E. one containing a slightly irregular line of seven aligned on Bincombe (69) in R.12. Now mostly ploughed, but some still visible on skyline from Broadmayne bank barrow (19). Two barrows (LVG 31a and LVG Osmington 2), one possibly a disc, are untraceable. ... (426) Ditched bowl (71168455) 40 yds. N. of (425). Diam. 71 ft., ht. 10 ft., with ditch 18 ft. wide and 2 ft. deep. Disturbed on top. '

Diameter 23.0m x 20.5m, ht. 2.2m. Ditch completely ploughed out. Unplouged in field of kale. Two sarsens are visible in the N & S ends of the mound. A large trench orientated N-S was dug into the barrow during the 1939-45 war. (Info Mr Saunders, the owner). Spoil from the excavation elongated the mounds at the N & S ends. 1/3/D
