A bell barrow 40m in diameter is visible on aerial photographs {1} as a cropmark ring ditch with an internal bank and central pit/ hollow. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Full Description

Round barrows on Ridgeway Hill: B. Bell (?) (65678660) 100 yds. E.N.E. of 'A'. Diam. about 100 ft., ht. 7 ft. Berm and ditch each about 10 ft. wide suggested by V.A.P. CPE/UK 1934, 1062. Excavation produced evidence of burning but no burial. <3>

'B' SY 65678660 Bell (?) barrow in arable, ploughed. Diameter approximately 40.0m, height 3.5m: No visible berm on ditch. Re- surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <4>
